İhtiyaç Duası (Salatul-Hajat)The Prayer Of Need
Allahumma ilayka ashku dha’fa quwwati, waqillata hilati, wahawani ala an-nas. Ya arham ar-rahimin, anta rabb ul-mustadh’afina wa anta arhamu bey min antaqelane ila aduween ba’idin yatajahhamuni, aw ila sadeeqkan qareeban mallaktahu amri. In lam takun ghadbana alayya fala ubali, ghayra anna ‘afiyatuka awsau’ li. A`oodhu binuri wajjhika alladhi ashraqat lahudh thulumatu wa saluha alayhi amru ud-dunya wal-akhira an yanzila biy ghadabuka, aw yahilla alayya sakhatuk. Laka al-’utba hatta tardha, wa lahawla wala quwwata illa bika [1] O Allah, You can see that I have become helpless and inadequate in strength, and have become contemptible in the sight of people. O the most Rahim of all Rahims, You are the Rabb of those who are considered weak and who are oppressed. You are so Rahim as to not abandon me to those who are bad-tempered and ill-behaved, and in fact not even to a friend among the relatives to whom You have placed me as trust. O Allah, if You are not angry with me, then all the pain and suffering I am subject to means nothing to me… But I also know Your field of protection is wide enough to not subject me to such things. O Allah, I seek refuge in Your NUR, which enlightens all forms of darkness and leads all affairs pertaining to the world and the afterlife to a state of salam (security) from being subject to Your wrath or displeasure… O Allah, I ask that You forgive me until You are pleased with me. Strength and power is from You alone. The Rasul of Allah (saw) had gone to the city of Taif during his early years of Risalah to spread the message of the reality… Despite his sincere effort and strife to awaken the people of Taif, he was unfairly criticized and assaulted by them to the point where the children stoned him out of the city, leaving him with bleeding feet. Though hurt and offended, he was finally able to escape from this ruthless attack when he reached the farm of one of his relatives… He had gone there totally without any personal interest, only to spread the truth, but he was assaulted and stoned in return… Involuntarily, he made the prayer above with teary eyes… That’s when the angels who had been appointed in charge of the mountains came to the Rasul and told him they could join the two mountains and destroy the city of Taif. But the Rasul of Allah (saw) was not after vengeance! He prayed, “Perhaps Allah will bring about believing people from the generations to come from them”[2] and returned to Makkah. Allah accepted his prayer. Some time after, the Nur of faith spread in the city of Taif and the entire city became Muslim. Anyone who is afflicted with great adversity, or subject to injustice and suffering, should definitely read this prayer, especially after completing or during prostration of the night prayer, or after every salat during the day… Hopefully, they will reach salvation and security in a very short time. أَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّى أَعُوذُ بِرِضَاكَ مِنْ سَخَطِكَ وَبِمُعَافَاتِكَ مِنْ عُقُوبَتِكَ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْكَ لَا اُحْصِى ثَنَآءً عَلَيْكَ أَنْتَ كَمَا أَثْنَيْتَ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ Allahumma inni a`oodhu biridhaka min sakhatika wa bimu`aafaatika min `uqubatika wa a`oodhu bika minka la uhsi thanaa’an alayka anta kamaa athnayta `alaa nafsik [3] I seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your displeasure, in Your forgiveness from Your recompense, In You from You. I admit my inability to praise You as You praise Yourself. We have been informed via various sources that the Rasul (saw) made this prayer during prostration of the night prayers. This is a wonderful prayer; especially the last two lines point to the levels of the reality and gnosis in Sufism, the qualified must evaluate this. I advise the qualified ones to take special consideration of these messages to try and grasp the essence of what the Rasul (saw) wanted to teach us. [1] Al-Tabarani Kitab-ud-Dua.
